Sabrina Ding
Lawyer
Credentials:
- Licensed Lawyer in Ontario & Canada
- Juris Doctor in Law (Osgoode Hall Law School)
- Honours Bachelor’s of Arts (University of Toronto)
- Fluent in English & Mandarin Chinese
Background:
In her youth, Sabrina immigrated to Canada with her entrepreneur mom. Slowly, Sabrina realized that in business and in life, law is an essential tool to prevent bad things from happening, and to fix misfortunes when they do happen.
Through her mom, Sabrina met many entrepreneurs who were very good in their field of expertise. But that was not enough. While they were great at bringing in clients and making money, their lack of legal knowledge meant they were also quick to lose money. It could be a contract they didn’t understand but signed anyways, or a real estate transaction where the lawyer did not do the proper searches.
After witnessing all this, Sabrina decided to become a lawyer to protect families and businesses. Armed with an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from U of T, and a Juris Doctor (Law) Degree from Osgoode, Sabrina went to work for a downtown immigration law firm, where she helped many families and entrepreneurs win their temporary and permanent status in Canada. Then, she went to work with the in-house department of a mortgage investment company, where she helped to close and litigate countless real estate and private lending transactions.
Finally, Sabrina opened her own law firm – Varity Law.
Families enjoy getting their Real Estate & Wills and Estate matters done at Varity Law, and Businesses love having their Corporate Law and Corporate Immigration affairs managed by the same firm.
Countless happy clients say their favourite things about the Varity Law team are their tailored legal approaches to each client’s problems and their warmth & compassion.
Personal:
Sabrina is a working mom who is devoted to her husband & son, while remaining passionate to her own business.
Having gone through the tragic passing of her mom & the joyous birth of her son – the challenges of opening a new business years ago and the current complexities of managing a fast-growing law firm – she shares many experiences with her clients – and she relate to them deeply.
During her off-time, you can find her singing & playing violin, and attempting to write the next best-selling fantasy series.
Jonathan Thibert
Lawyer
Credentials:
- Licenced Lawyer in Ontario & Canada
- Bachelor of Laws, Honours (University of Exeter)
- Bachelor of Arts (University of Ontario Institute of Technology)
- Fluent in English
Background:
As a child, Jonathan saw his life change when his father suffered a severe workplace injury. This caused financial hardship, which led to legal problems with his father’s employer. Unfortunately, things were too complicated for Jonathan’s parents to handle on their own; they needed legal help.
Later, Jonathan watched his mother trying to raise her kids by starting a flower nursery. However, without legal knowledge, things like forming a corporation or signing a lease agreement became extremely complicated and time-consuming; without legal assistance, opportunities vanished, but after receiving good legal services, the business was able to grow.
After finishing his Bachelor of Arts, Jonathan moved to South Korea to teach English. In South Korea, like in Canada, immigration applicants must complete many complicated forms, all of which must be done exactly according to the law. Having experienced this, Jonathan learned how important it is to have guidance from a competent legal professional who knows the rules.
Having experienced all this, Jonathan decided to become a lawyer, so he can use law to better the lives of immigrants, families, and entrepreneurs.
To do so, Jonathan attended the prestigious University of Exeter School of Law in United Kingdom – he first became a paralegal and later a licensed Lawyer in Canada. Throughout his legal career, Jonathan has represented countless clients with real estate matters, including many cases where home buyers tried backing out of the deal. With Jonathan’s assistance, he was able to secure the return of deposits for many would-be buyers or retain the deposits for would-be sellers.
Since joining Varity Law, Jonathan has helped many clients protect their new homes by performing extensive investigations on property deeds. This ensures that new homeowners are not harmed by the actions of dishonest sellers. Finally, Jonathan has helped many foreign entrepreneurs win their temporary and permanent status in Canada by skillfully completing their immigration applications and demonstrating for Canadian immigration officers how they will develop their businesses and contribute to the Canadian economy. By helping them get PR status, Jonathan ensured that business immigrants could remain in Canada to build their companies and stay with the family members, instead of having to return to their origin countries upon their status expiry.
Jon’s decade of experience in law ensured his competence when finding legal solutions for his clients. As well, his “going the extra mile” attitude makes client feel well cared for and deeply understood.
Personal:
In addition to being a passionate and dedicated advocate, Jonathan is also a devoted husband and father. When Jonathan is not working, he likes to spend as much time outdoors as possible, whether it is growing his tomatoes and cucumbers, going to Sandbanks Beach to play in the sand with his daughter, or going for hikes in the forest with his wife.
Our Clerks
Suki Man
Suki Man is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.
Grewing up in Hong Kong, Suki encountered many families and businesses who have incorrect understandings of the law. For example, she heard many people say that a Will does not need to be commission by a lawyer to be valid, or that a parent can get money from a real estate property even if they do not go on the deed. Also, in her own past dealings with lawyers, she never received proper explanations of important legal documents, and like many others, she thought this was the norm.
Since joining Varity Law, Suki realized how important it is to have correct and easy-to-understand legal solutions and explanations. Motivated by her own bad past experience, she set out to provide effective legal work for all her clients. She has helped countless clients with their real estate closings and prepared many successful estate applications. Also, she is a pro when it comes to incorporating businesses and explaining different share structures to clients under a lawyer’s supervision.
Suki has an Honour’s Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from University of Toronto, and has extensive client communications and administrative experiences before joining Varity Law.
